Shilajit - A Messy Affair

Shilajit - A Messy Affair

So you have received the package you've been waiting for – Shilajit. Pure Shilajit packs an aroma and taste so earthy it feels like you've traveled to the Himalayas. But there's one thing nobody tells you enough about – the messiness that comes with using Shilajit. If there's one thing people don't like about Shilajit, it's this. And this is exactly why there are many alternatives in the market that offer Shilajit in different forms – liquid, capsule, powder, gummies – but none as effective as resin.

Real Shilajit is a tar-like substance packed with minerals. When you scoop it out, it feels as though it doesn't want to leave the jar (think of cheese when picking up a slice of pizza).

Genuine Shilajit does not contain any water, unlike most Shilajit that has been watered down for ease of handling and, of course, for more profits. But once you use our Shilajit regularly, you will discover the best ways to handle it and minimize the inconvenience of handling it.

Here are some tips to prepare you for what to expect and how to make the most out of Shilajit in the jar.

1. Let it settle

Shilajit is extremely sensitive to temperature. During the summer months, Shilajit is warmer, thinner and tends to leak out of cracks (just as it seeps out from the crevices of rocks). We already add an extra seal on the mouth of the glass jar to prevent Shilajit from leaking out and sticking to the lid. When you first open the lid and the liner, you may see some Shilajit stuck to the liner. To minimize the amount of Shilajit stuck to the liner, we recommend placing the jar upright at room temperature for a few hours. You may also put it in a warmer area away from direct sunlight.

2. Avoid creating threads when scooping out

When scooping out Shilajit, keep the spoon inside the jar while breaking away from the rest of the Shilajit. This way, you won't create threads that can be hard to break.

3. Add purified water and leave it overnight

If your Shilajit loses moisture and hardens, simply add a spoonful of purified water to the jar and leave it overnight. Shilajit will absorb the water evenly, presenting a thinner texture in the morning.

4. Keep the lid and jar mouth clean

To avoid the lid getting stuck to the jar, we recommend cleaning the outer threads of the jar and the inner threads of the lid with a clean, damp kitchen towel. Removing any Shilajit from these areas will ensure the lid does not stick to the jar. If it does, run the jar under warm tap water in an upright position for a few minutes.

Once you use Shilajit regularly, you will soon learn the tricks to keep your morning Shilajit routine a breeze.
